# Set your balances

> Add credit card, airline, and hotel loyalty balances to your points wallet so PointsCasa can build accurate booking paths and bookability checks.

<Info>
  The command centre (cmd + k on mac / ctrl + k on windows) allows you to add balances just by typing. Do try it out. You can also add or update balances from [Command Centre](/command-centre/using-command-centre) with `Cmd + K` on Mac or `Ctrl + K` on Windows.
</Info>

Your balances make PointsCasa personal.

Without balances, PointsCasa can still show flight results. With balances, it can show whether a flight is **bookable for you** and which programs can help.

## What to add

Add programs where you hold meaningful points.

| Program type | Why it helps | Examples |
| ------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Credit card rewards | These may transfer into airline or hotel programs. | Amex Plat Travel, HDFC Infinia, Axis Atlas |
| Airline loyalty programs | These can be used directly for award flights. | Air India Maharaja Club, Singapore Airlines Krisflyer, Qatar Avios |
| Hotel programs | Useful for hotel balances and some transfer paths. | All Accor Plus, Marriott Bonvoy, Wyndham Rewards |

You do not need to add every program you have ever joined. Start with the ones that could affect your next trip.

<Tip>
  If you are not sure what to add first, start with your largest credit card, airline, and hotel balances.
</Tip>

## Keep balances close enough

Your balance does not need to be perfect for casual browsing.

It should be accurate when:

* you are about to transfer points
* you are deciding between two booking paths
* you are using the bookability or Balance Mix features
* you recently redeemed or earned a large number of points

## Gmail import

If Gmail import is available on your account, it can help detect program information from eligible emails.

Treat it as a convenience. Before booking, always confirm balances in the bank, airline, or hotel account.

## How balances affect booking

On a booking page, PointsCasa may use your balances to show:

* direct booking with miles you already have
* transfers needed from credit card points
* a shortfall if you are close
* alternate payment paths such as SmartBuy or iShop when available

You can also use Balance Mix on supported bookings to adjust which source programs are used. PointsCasa will rebalance the rest of the booking path.
