# Transfer calculator

## When to use it
Use the calculator to answer:

## When not to use it

## Reading ratios
Ratios tell you how source points become destination points.
`10,000` source points become `10,000` destination miles or points.
`10,000` source points become `5,000` destination miles or points.
`10,000` source points become `8,000` destination miles or points.
If a transfer bonus applies, the final miles may be higher.
## Before transferring
Never transfer only because the ratio looks good.
First confirm:
* the award is available
* the transfer time is acceptable
* the destination miles are useful
* the transfer is not reversible
* your account details match
